Questions About Dubai Travel Offers

Lisa asks…

Can I travel with my wife who was offered a job in Dubai?

My wife was offered a job in Dubai and I wonder if I we can move to Dubai together. Will I get a work permit as a dependent? Will I have a right to stay in Dubai with my wife before I find a job for myself?

admin answers:

The answer (yes or no) depends on your nationality and your wife's profession/position and her income.

As a dependent you will not receive a work permit automatically. This can only be obtained when you get hired.

As a national who is able to obtain a visa up on arrival, you can come together with your wife, stay for 30 days, extend for another 30 days and then go on a visa run.
If you have to apply for a visa in advance, you can only obtain a tourist visa through a travel agency or hotel because your wife isn't able to sponsor you before she received her residence visa.

Female engineers, nurses and teachers are able to sponsor a husband. Other professionals needed a basic salary of Dhs 3000 + housing or Dhs 4.000 without. The financial requirements maybe have been increased. Additional your wife has to provide a NoC of her employer and decent accommodation in her name to sponsor you.

As soon as you land a job yourself, the sponsorship needs to be shifted over to your employer. A husband is not able to take employment under his wife's sponsorship.

Thomas asks…

Emigration clearance not required (ECNR) Stamp required to Travel to Dubai from Qatar?

I have been working in Qatar for the last two years. Now i got an offer from a UAE firm & they arranged me an Employment Visa(entry permit for Employment). I'm an Electrical Engineering Diploma holder. I don't have a ECNR stamp in my passport. (passport is with my employer). Will I be able to travel to Dubai without the ECNR stamp? Is this stamp required only when you travel from INDIA?

admin answers:

ECNR stamp is a rubber stamp seen only by Indian authorities while departure from an Indian airport. If you have a UAE employment visa, you can enter that Emirate (Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Sharjah, as the case may be) directly from Doha.

Mary asks…

Savings accounts in Dubai... which one offers the best interest and can remain open if I leave the UAE?

I need an account I won't need to close when I eventually leave the UAE. I won't be going back to my home country, so I don't want an account there. I'll be traveling around. I want an account here that would offer the best interest and one I don't need to close once I leave.

Any help / suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

admin answers:

HSBC and Emirates don't require a residence visa for opening a savings account/keeping a savings account as a non resident.

In order to keep the account as a non resident the bank will request:
Proof of your new address

Current interest on a savings account with HSBC is 0,10%

The interest rate of Emirates Bank depend on the balance and might be higher than at HSBC.

Ruth asks…

i have an employment offer in dubai, uae dirham 4500/month plus free accomodation and travel allowances.?

is it a good employment offer?
the contract states that they will give me a residence visa...

admin answers:

Dear first of all you have not mentioned whether you are going to bring you family along ? It depends on how lavishly you live here in Dubai and what are ur expenses b'cose Dubai is a city where a person can save from 5K Dhs/- and can also spend 5K Dhs in a week. I am not discouraging you but the fact is cost of living in Dubai is really very costly b'cose accommodation rising every year.
You said company is going to pay ur accommodation and transport but what about some other expenses , as you have not mentioned whether ur company is going to pay or you have to pay from ur pocket -----
1) health expenses as private hospitals are very very expensive
2) electric ,telephone,Internet and water bills
3) toll tax known as salik here
4) air fare becose generally everybody get air fair every 2 years here.
5) family visa
there are many other small small expenses which you will come to know after coming here.
If you are single then the salary is ok but if you are bringing your family with children along then I would suggest do sign a contract after having a healthy discussion with your sponsor, b'cose the fact is schooling is very very costly here and in case you want to send ur child to an international school then coming here with this salary is not worth enough.
Gd Luck
You'r free to ask any query reg dubai i'll be happy to answer.
