Traveling Jan 2007 for the Shopping Festival. Any suggestions on where to stay? What to do? Safe? Am thinking of the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

You are welcome to Dubai, Shopping Festival is a real good time to shop ( being a women I know the high), not only do u get branded stuff, there are lot of promotions, sales going on at the time, and you will meet a true mix of cultures..(mostly asians) and besides shopping there are a lot of things you can do like desert safari,believe it or not skiing (even if it is artifical),clubbing,cruise etc..
Hilton Jumeriah is perfect.with good location and easy access to beach.
Safety..no issues...there is no country as far as I know where women can go for a stroll alone at 2 in the night that much safe...I am an Indian and have been here for 10 yrs..know pretty well...only petty crimes happen..heard of nothing serious here...adn the cops and people are very helpful too....and no issues of language barrier , until u r dealing with govt...but still they speak english...no prob there as well..and it is widely spoken by the majority.

how safe is Dubai for a woman traveling solo?

Probably safer than anywhere else you've been to in most areas. Getting a taxi at 3am outside a bar is no problem for example. Avoid Deira after midnight, and industrial areas with labour camps.
Be wary of complete strangers offering to show you around, but just use common sense and you should be fine.

Is it safe to go to Dubai. Any hotel reccomendations?
I plan of stopping in Dubai next year on my big trip round the world but I am a little concerned about safety. We are two women travelling alone so we would only want to stay in good hotels. I have been saving for this trip for years so price is not a big issue.

Can two women share accommodation in Dubai?
Hi,
Another female friend and I are traveling to Dubai, is it ok for us to share accommodation? I have heard that male/female couples shouldn't share unless married, but is it ok for same sex friends to share a twin room?
