Hi
i come from the Uk and i will be travelling through Dubai international airport.
I'll only be there for a few hours so will want to get something to eat and do a bit of shopping.
Can anyone tell me what types of currency are accepted at the airport or is it only the currency of Dubai that's accepted....
Im just trying to work out if i need to change my money before i get there or if my own currency will be accepted.

Dollar, Euro., & pound are accepted in addition to Dirhams but it varies depending on the outlet itself.(these currencies are also acceptable in several Dubai shops not just the airport) But if you want to just buy a meal or any thing from duty free you can simply use your credit card , you do not need to carry change. On top the ATM machines give local money when you want cash from your card.
Ask the airport staff after you arrive for best alternative way to make the purchases. You might also find some fellow passengers willing to swap currencies with you.(like some one leaving and does not need the Dirham change is their pocket).
For the phone or WiFi you can use a card , which you can also charge to your credit card.

Have you ever been to other major airports besides Dubai , be rest assured Heathrow & JFK are not exactly cheaper , rip-off food prices just go along with the territory, but fast food and duty free prices are reasonable in comparison.

What currency to bring to Dubai?
I am going to Dubai this coming Thursday. I am traveling from Bulgaria and I was wondering what is the best currency I should bring with me - EURO or US Dollar?

If you have USD and Euro on hand already, bring Euros.
BUT if you have to exchange BGN into USD or Euro first - don't! In this case bring your home currency and change in Dubai.
Example: BGN 100 are USD 68
BGN 100 are EUR 51
USD 68 are AED 249
EUR 51 are AED 250
BGN 99 are AED 249
Best thing to do (if you don't have Euros already), exchange a small amount of BGN at Dubai Airport and bigger amounts at exchange places like Ansari which can be found in every mall and shopping centre.
